KCU Showcases “Aqua Clean” Innovation at the 3rd Oil & Gas Skills Expo 2026

The Department of Petroleum Geoscience at King Ceasor University today, 13th May 2026, proudly participated in Day One of the 3rd Oil & Gas Skills Expo 2026 held at Makerere University under the theme: “From Oil and Gas to the Wider Economy: Transferable Skills Driving Sustainable Growth.”
During the expo, the department showcased Aqua Clean, an innovative project reflecting the university’s commitment to research, sustainability and practical solutions that contribute to Uganda’s evolving energy sector and wider economy.
Day One of the expo brought together government leaders, academia, industry experts and private sector stakeholders to discuss workforce readiness, strategic research and innovation, international accreditation and employment opportunities within Uganda’s petroleum industry.
Delivering the keynote address, Prof. Augustine Osamor Ifelebuegu emphasized the importance of ensuring petroleum sector skills remain transferable to other sectors of the economy in order to support long-term sustainable growth.
Speaking on behalf of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Development, Ms. Tusiime Grace commended the expo for focusing on workforce readiness, innovation and career development pathways critical to Uganda’s transition into petroleum production.
Mr. Ernest Rubondo, Executive Director of the Petroleum Authority of Uganda, further stressed the importance of structured training, certification and deliberate information sharing in achieving effective skills transfer.
Through innovations such as Aqua Clean, the Department of Petroleum Geoscience at King Ceasor University continues to promote research excellence, sustainability and industry collaboration while preparing students and professionals for the future of Uganda’s energy sector.
