Minister of Energy Hosts KCU Geoscience Department

The Petroleum Geoscience Department paid a courtesy call to the Minister of Energy and Mineral Development, Ruth Nankabirwa, to discuss the current status of Uganda’s oil, gas, and mining sectors.

The meeting provided an opportunity to share updates on ongoing activities, review progress across the sectors, and highlight key challenges and emerging opportunities. Discussions emphasized the critical role of geoscience in supporting informed decision-making, sustainable resource management, and value addition within the extractives industry.

Both parties underscored the importance of continued collaboration between government institutions and technical departments to strengthen capacity, enhance sector performance, and contribute to Uganda’s socio-economic development.

The engagement reflects a shared commitment to advancing the responsible development of the country’s natural resources for the benefit of present and future generations.
