University Counsellor

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Provide counselling services to the students and members of staff
Key functions
- Participate in developing and implementing counselling strategies to staff and students in the University.
- Conduct individual and group counselling sessions to advise and assist students for academic development.
- Assist to compile a record of useful information on Guidance and Counselling and make it available to students and staff.
- Provide long-term individual support and further social relations between students.
- Participate in organizing educational seminars for staff and students in the field of Guidance and Counselling.
- Consult with staff and the general student population on their counselling needs.
- Participate in the general set up and implementation of the counselling and guidance Centre activities.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Dean of Students.
Person Specification
- Master’s degree in Counselling and Guidance or Counselling Psychology.
- A Bachelor’s degree from a recognized Institution.
- Three (3) years of working experience in counselling relevant area in an institution.
- Have good interpersonal relations.
- Have skills in handling students’ problems and welfare.
- Mature person with positive attitude towards people.
- Possess high supervision and coordination skills.
- Confidentiality, team player and ability to empathize.
