IGCSE:

The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is considered equivalent to the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE). Students who hold IGCSE qualifications and wish to apply to KCU should submit their grades to the Registrar’s Office for review. The grading will be equated by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) and consultation will be made with the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) to determine the basis of entry.

GCE:

GCE A’ Levels or its equivalents, such as the UK A’ Levels, are considered equivalent to the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE). Prospective students who have completed GCE A’ Levels or similar qualifications from other countries should have their grades reviewed by the Registrar’s Office. The equating process will be conducted by UNEB, and consultation with NCHE will also be carried out to determine the basis of entry.

International Baccalaureate Diploma:

The International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB Dip.) is equivalent to the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE). To meet the minimum entry requirements, applicants should have a minimum of 24 Points in the IB Diploma. The Registrar’s Office will review the grades from the IB Diploma qualification, and the equating process by UNEB, along with consultation from NCHE, will determine the basis of entry.

South Sudan:

The South Sudan Certificate of Secondary Education (SSCSE) is equivalent to the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE). However, students with SSCSE qualifications are required to successfully complete an accredited foundation, access program, Higher Education Certificate, or an equivalent qualification for one year before gaining entry into any program at KCU.

Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC):

The education system in the Democratic Republic of Congo concludes with the Diplôme d’État d’études secondaires, which is equivalent to the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE). Prospective students with Diplôme d’État grades should have them reviewed by the Registrar’s Office. The equating process by UNEB, consultation from NCHE, and assessment of the applicant’s English Language Proficiency will determine the basis of entry.

Nigeria and West Africa:

The National Examinations Council (NCEO) Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) and the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) are considered equivalent to the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE). Students with these qualifications must successfully complete an accredited foundation, access program, Higher Education Certificate, or an equivalent qualification for one year as a minimum entry requirement at KCU. Higher education qualifications from Nigeria should be referred to the NCHE, and applicants from countries where English was not the medium of instruction may need to undergo an English Language Proficiency test.

Kenya:

The Kenyan Certificate of Education (KCSE) is equivalent to the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE). Prospective students with KCSE qualifications must complete an accredited foundation, access program, Higher Education Certificate, or an equivalent qualification for one year as the minimum entry requirement into any program at KCU.

Tanzania:

The Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) from Tanzania is equivalent to the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE). Grades obtained from the ACSEE will be reviewed by the Registrar’s Office. The equating process by UNEB, in consultation with NCHE, will determine the basis of entry.

Somalia:

Due to the complexities of the education systems in Somalia, applicants are required to successfully complete an accredited foundation, access program, Higher Education Certificate, or an equivalent qualification for one year as the basis of entry into any program at KCU. Higher education qualifications from Somalia must be referred to the NCHE, and English Language Proficiency of the applicant should also be tested.

Rwanda:

The Rwanda Advanced Level Certificate of Education (RALCE) is equivalent to the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE). Grades from RALCE will be reviewed by the Registrar’s Office, and the equating process by UNEB, along with consultation from NCHE, will determine the basis of entry. Additionally, TVET qualifications may be considered as the basis for entry into Diploma courses at KCU.

Burundi:

The Burundi education system concludes with the Diplôme de Fin d’Études Secondaires, which is equivalent to the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE). Grades obtained from the Diplôme de Fin d’Études Secondaires will be reviewed by the Registrar’s Office. The equating process by UNEB, in consultation with NCHE, along with the assessment of the applicant’s English Language Proficiency, will determine the basis of entry.

Eritrea:

The Eritrean Secondary Education Certificate Examination (ESECE) is equivalent to the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE). Students with this qualification must complete an accredited foundation, access program, Higher Education Certificate, or an equivalent qualification for one year as the basis of entry into any program at KCU.
