REGISTRAR – ADMISSIONS

Engagement: FULL-TIME CONTRACT

Duration: 3 years, renewable upon satisfactory performance

Duty Station: Main Campus (Ggaba Road, Kampala Uganda)

Job Summary:

To assist the Academic Registrar in organizing and coordinating activities relating to student admissions

Key responsibilities

  • Coordinate the management of admission and registration of students and advise the
  • Academic Registrar on their compliance to University admissions requirements.
  • Coordinate/Implement the admission/transfer procedures for all new students in all University programs, in consultation with the University Admissions Board.
  • Receiving, reviewing, and evaluating all student candidates’ academic documents such as application forms, grades, transcripts, slips, certificates, and any other supporting documents submitted for scrutiny by the applicant.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of university policies, processes and procedures from student registration to graduation.
  • Provide input regarding improvements and enhancements to the university student enrollment management system.
  • Serve as liaison between functional and technical resources for upgrades, problem analysis, issue tracking and resolution.
  • Guide prospective students on making career choices basing on their performance and aspirations.
  • Collaborate with Schools and others to research, resolve and recommend action for problems and questions that arise concerning graduation, registration, and records. 
  • Support the Academic Registrar in organizing University ceremonies.
  • Support the Academic Registrar in organizing meetings and providing secretariat services to
  • academic related Boards/ Committees instituted by Senate.
  • Manage and assess the performance of staff in the admission office
  • Ensure the proper running of the admissions office

  • Have a demonstrable excellent track record of high ethical standards and professionalism.
  • A mature result oriented person/self-driven who subscribes to the University’s Core values and Philosophy.
  • Not more than 55 years of age at the time of application.
  • Should have good interpersonal and effective communication skills.
  • Should have a high level of integrity. Must be computer literate

Qualifications, Experience and Competencies

  • A Master’s degree from recognized institution of higher learning either in  Education – Administration, Planning and/or Management or related fields.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree from recognized institution of higher learning either in Education (Hons) or any other fields.
