Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Geoscience

HomeProgramsBachelor of Science in Petroleum Geoscience

Introduction

This program provide students with a solid understanding of the geological, physical, and economic principles that underpin the exploration, production, and processing of oil and gas resources.

Our curriculum emphasizes a balance of theoretical and practical learning opportunities, including hands-on training in our state-of-the-art laboratories and fieldwork experiences. Our faculty members are experts in their fields and are committed to providing individualized attention and mentorship to each student.

We also offer research opportunities and access to cutting-edge facilities and equipment, giving our students the opportunity to participate in groundbreaking research and gain valuable real-world experience.

At the School of Petroleum and Geoscience, we are passionate about the role that the oil and gas industry plays in our world and are committed to preparing the next generation of leaders in this field. If you are interested in pursuing a career in oil and gas or petroleum and geoscience or simply want to learn more about this important industry, we invite you to explore our programs and discover all that King Ceasor University has to offer.

Programme Objectives

Main Objective

  • The main objective of this programme is to develop capacity in Petroleum Geoscience through training and research that are much needed in the region, to sustain exploration and production.

Specific Objectives

On successful completion of this programme, the students should be able to:

  • Bridge and eventually close the gap in the needed human resource in exploration, production and refinement of petroleum.
  • Engage in research and development in petroleum geoscience and production and network with the oil sector to enhance value addition to petroleum production.
  • Integrate knowledge and skills relevant in solving energy problems.
  • promote a holistic approach to petroleum geology and petroleum geophysics through classwork, fieldwork, and group projects relevant to the Uganda petroleum province (in the first instance) and to nearby provinces such as East Africa, Africa continent and the entire world.
  • Have basic knowledge in the key subsurface petroleum exploration & production geoscience disciplines.
  • Have specialist knowledge in sequence stratigraphy, sedimentology, structural geology, basin analysis, petroleum systems & reservoir geology.
  • Have skills in state-of-the-art technologies (e.g. 3D seismic interpretation, formation evaluation, reservoir modelling & basin modelling).
  • Have guidelines for the main Exploration & Production workflows (e.g. play fairway analysis, prospect evaluation, appraisal, development & reservoir management);

Have multidisciplinary and transferable skills for working within integrated subsurface evaluation teams
